PET plastic bottles are not only the most widely used packaging for carbonated beverages, drinking water, juices, enzyme preparations, and tea-based drinks, but they also serve critical roles across numerous sectors, including food processing, chemical manufacturing, and pharmaceutical packaging. These versatile bottles, available in a wide variety of shapes and functions, are manufactured by PET blow molding machines, which rely on precise air pressure control to shape heated preforms within dedicated molds.
Blow Molding Process
The PET blow molding sequence consists of two primary inflation steps:
1.Primary Blow (10–12 bar): Compressed air expands the preform to approximately 70–80% of its final dimensions.
2.Secondary Blow (35–40 bar): Additional air pressure completes the bottle’s final form.
For hot-fill applications, an extra cooling blow (35–40 bar) is introduced to quickly bring the bottle temperature down, ensuring structural integrity during subsequent filling processes. As a result, the quality and stability of the compressed air supply are pivotal to consistent bottle formation and appearance.
Impact of Air Quality on Production
The characteristics of compressed air directly influence yield rates, product quality, and overall production costs:
1.Insufficient Pressure: Leads to surface defects such as orange-peel textures, blurred contours or graphics, and underfilled bottles.
2.Contaminants (Particulate and Pitting): Airborne impurities cause speckling or pitted surfaces on finished bottles.
3.Excessive Pressure: Can rupture preforms during molding, resulting in scrap and downtime.
4.Moisture and Oil Contamination: Leave stains or residues on bottles, compromising aesthetic and hygiene standards.
ADEKOM’s Solutions
With decades of expertise serving the food and beverage industry, ADEKOM offers tailored, oil-free compression systems that meet the most stringent quality requirements:
Our compressors are designed to provide the flexibility and reliability demanded by high-volume PET blow molding operations, all within a compact footprint that minimizes installation space requirements.
Class | Total Oil Content (oil vapour, oil aerosol) mg/m3 |
0 | Defined by user or manufacturer, more stringent than Class 1 |
1 | ≤0.01 |
2 | ≤0.1 |
3 | ≤1 |
4 | ≤5 |
To meet the PET blow molding market’s growing demand for high efficiency and energy savings, ADEKOM has developed a dedicated oil-free, screw piston tandem high pressure compressor. This system seamlessly integrates screw compression technology with oil-free piston boosting to deliver a stable, low noise, and low energy consumption mid to high pressure air solution in a compact footprint.
Advantages Over Conventional Piston Compressors
Designed specifically for high-volume, high-pressure PET blow molding operations, ADEKOM’s compressor system addresses the industry’s technical challenges of delivering large air volumes at elevated pressures, all while minimizing energy use and operational overhead.
